🎨 Parents:The only tools you need to use these how-to-draw tutorials are: an eraser, a pencil, and a piece of paper. But – if you have them around – a sketching pencil makes for fainter and softer lines that help kids build fine motor accuracy. I also recommend going over the sketch pencil with a black outline marker when you're done for a neater finish. Lastly, erase the pencil marks before adding color.

Abraham Lincoln Facts for Kids
- As a young boy, his family taught him and his siblings the importance of being a good, moral person. They were deeply religious and believed that slavery is a very immoral thing. This lesson was held steadfastly by Lincoln his entire life.
- Abraham Lincoln was born to a poor family (much like Alexander Hamilton) on Feb 12, 1809. Abe's father was a farmer/carpenter and they lived in a one-room small, humble wood cabin.
- Lincoln only went to school for 1 year yet he loved to learn and read. He loved reading so much, people thought he was lazy because all he wanted to do was sit and read.
- When he was 23 years old he joined to serve as a captain during the Black Hawk War, this leads him to be aware of politics.
- He still loved to read and learn, and thus, he eventually became a lawyer. He then ran for politics and served in the Illinois House of Representatives when he was only in his 30s years old!
- Lincoln loved to read and write, a lot of which was self-taught due to his family's poverty.
- You can visit the only house he ever owned today, it is preserved in Illinois and naturally is a popular tourist destination today.
- He believed all humans were valuable so he abolished slavery. During this turbulent time with the South, he wrote the famous "Gettysburg Address."
- It took 2 years for the Union to win the war against the Confederate slaving owning South. After the civil war, Abe solidified his reputation and history by ending slavery.
- Sadly a bitter actor, a sore loser, John Wilkes Booth assassinated and killed Lincoln thinking he did it for his country. The entire nation mourned.
